Hi Scott, Mary JO, Griff

Probably do not remember me, my time was in the late 70’s and I only tagged along a wee bit with you all around the 83 – 85 timeframe.

Cool to see you made Light COL Scott.

I maybe only got to play in one or two games with Dale. The only two tries I ever scored – in one game was that one. In all those years we muddled round in the late 70s I never set the ball down… Anyway, Dale and I met and it was funny… we had this strange going back and forth thing, encouraging, felt like a pal from way back… He showed up at my College Graduation Party (ROTC Commissioning).

He was in those old style Khakis… anyway he talked to my Dad for hours. My old man loved him instantly. Very, VERY sorry to hear about all this – especially when I was only trying to find old news about Rats Rugby.

I am in Colorady with my two girls. You all take care,

I signed in on Facebook and got connected with Steve and Roger and found this site. WOW! It is great to see the pictures and hear about old friends.

I am married and living in Northbrook, IL. I have two kids, age 3 and 6. I am the Parks and Recreation Director in Lincolnwood, IL.

Thanks to Roger Groll for letting me know about Dale. My thoughts and prayers go to Dale’s family. I was also sorry to hear than John Otto is ill, but am not surprised that he is giving the illness a run for its money!

I will always remember dancing at Arctic Rugby Fest with Otto and falling into two inches of beer on the floor or leaving a rugby party in Eau Claire around 2 am and driving north to stay at a girls house that I didn’t even really know. On the way up Brewer fell asleep and we went off the road! We lost our muffler and the car sounded like a tank!

MJ and I had many great times following the team and we made great friends. I remember slinging dogs and beans for the parties. I, too, can still drink beer with the best of ‘em.

I am going to search for photos tonight. Take care, friends!

I’m so sorry for you & the boys tremendous loss.

We as former teammates can all be grateful for the time we had with Dale, but for the boys to lose their dad at such a crucial time in their lives is traumatic and tragic.

Thank you for the photos I will put them up with your letter.

Steve – thanks for putting this site together. I was shocked to hear about Dale – Al couldn’t have said it better, that man knew how to live.
Memories of 1983 summer sevens came flooding back to me – Kook and Jensen as props and me playing hooker. Who could ever forget the infamous Articfest tourney win? How about the road trip that Grant hosted our drunken tour of the Pepsi plant, and ended with us leaving our ride dead on the highway with the Wisconsin State Patrol searching for our hungover car stripping gang.
I’m ready for another reunion… it’s been about 15 years I think.
I’m living in Glen Allen, VA. It’s hard to believe my son will be graduating from high school next June and my daughter is a HS sophmore. All is well with me and my family.
The photo’s that folks have posted are great – I’m going to do some digging and see if I can come up with any from my archives.
